Retreat Staff Spotlight: Christian Wilson

Our Retreat Staff at Glorieta go the extra mile to see that our guests get the experience they’re looking for! From the initial planning stages until the very end of your stay, these leaders are committed to serving and serving well.

Today we’re featuring… Christian Wilson!

First off, Christian, where are you from?

I’m from Odessa, Texas.

What’s your position on the retreat staff and what does it involve?

Retreat Assistant. It involves a lot of moving parts. I create schedules, manage retreat logistics, lead and disciple retreat guides and work on ways to improve the retreat program and guest experience.

What's your favorite thing about your role?

I love the people I work with and the daily puzzle I am faced with, in making all the moving parts fit together perfectly.

How did God bring you to Glorieta?

The Lord was pushing me to step out of my comfort zone and come to a place I never thought I would work. And I'm so glad I did!

When you’re not busy helping groups have an amazing retreat experience, what do you like to do?

I love to work puzzles, drink coffee, watch a binge-worthy TV show, or clean my house.

Can you tell us about one specific moment or experience that has deeply impacted your life, while working on retreat staff?

Working in retreats, you meet a lot of people. I met a woman who sticks out the most out of everyone I have met. This is because she radiates pure joy and Christ-like love to everyone she meets. She is someone I can only hope to become! She made me completely reevaluate my relationship with Christ to figure out how I get to be that person. You meet some truly remarkable people in this job.

Why should groups choose Glorieta as their retreat destination?

Glorieta offers a unique environment and staff that will make your retreat the best that it can be.  While we may have some really great activities, the Lord moves among His creation and His people. You will not forget your time here at Glorieta! We strive to make your experience the best it can be.
